My basis for ethics in a world w/o god is simple. In a free society in which you expect your rights to be upheld and those that transgress yours to be punished it is ethical to conduct yourself in such a way as to not break the law.

W/O on a personal basis, it is ethical to extend the same curtesies to others as you would have them extend to you with a GIANT FUCKING ASTERIX noting that conscientiousness is a form of action. IE just because you like chocadiles it's not ethical for you to forcefeed chocadiles to someone else...instead extend to him the conscientiousness that would keep someone from shoving an unpleasant food into your own mouth.
