You missed the fact that Hillary Clinton's book was tirelessly plugged by the MSM who wrote the most glowing reviews in literary history. You missed the ridiculously dishonest promotion of AlGore's disgraceful, lying piece of shit film not only by the MSM but -- good lord man -- Hollywood gave the guy an OSCAR for telling a pack of whoppers! B. Hussein Obama accepted a fat advance to write a book about race relations and instead turned in (surprise, surprise!) an autobiography even though he was barely 40 and had dick for actual accomplishments -- and he kept the money. That book didn't sell diddly, nor did his OTHER autobiography, until he ran for President, when they dusted off both books and rushed them back onto shelves.

Isn't it amazing that when Liberal books fail on a massive scale despite incredible amounts of free publicity from the MSM, Liberals don't criticize the failure, but when a Conservative author sells a HUGE number of books her first day despite being smeared and mocked in the media every single day, Liberals need to concoct excuses to explain away her popularity with real Americans. I particularly enjoy the claim that only redneck shut-ins and fat Wal-Mart clerks are buying the book. I guess the millions of ordinary Americans who attended Tea Party protests, Town Hall meetings, 9/12 events and other rallies from coast to coast -- and who mainly drove themselves to and from, carried signs that were not professionally made, wore regular clothes instead of identical professionally-lettered t-shirts, and took time out of their jobs instead of getting paid to participate in a "grassroots" demonstration -- were all illiterate, obese, cross-burning, gap-toothed, inbred hicks, right? As for global warming, lemme help you out with that. In the 1970s when I was a kid in school the big news was how we were going to freeze to death because the Earth was going to enter another ice age. That claim was debunked so they switched it up to Global Warming. By the late 80s it was turning into a cottage industry, with books and papers and studies and all kinds of crap supporting it.

I admit it seemed to make sense. I mean here we are, billions of people pumping out tons of CO2 all day long. Cars, trucks, power plants, fireplaces, farts, smoking, gas grills, you name it. Seems like a shit load of CO2. Must be affecting the planet by now, right? Kinda hard to see how it wouldn't be.

So when in 1996-7 the alarmists predicted a 3-4 degree avg temperature rise for the planet by 2007, nobody really questioned it. A lot of noise was made to get the word out and motivate people into demanding action. A lot of global warming gurus said the predicted warming wouldn't be 3-4 degrees, but more like 12. That would kill us all, they warned.

Just one small problem. 2007 rolled around, and not only did the planet fail to show any warming, but it actually COOLED .75 degrees. I dunno about you, but to me that seems downright ungrateful. I mean, the global warming people worked really hard to get the message out, they scared the shit out of everyone, lobbied hard for emissions legislation. You'd think the planet would at least show some appreciation and warm up even a little. But no. It cooled. Almost feel sorry for those poor global warming bastards when the planet chugs along totally oblivious to the good-hearted deeds being done on its behalf, obstinately refusing to warm up.

In 2005 we had Katrina, and of course global warming alarmists said A HA! Just the start of a new cycle of ever-stronger storms that will ravage the planet! Global warming will increase the number, frequency and strength of hurricanes, causing trillions of dollars in damages, displacing millions and killing tens of thousands. Trouble was, 2006 was one of the quietest years for hurricanes in recent memory, 2007 was about average, 2008 was below average and this year was the quietest I can remember in my whole life. Again, the Earth gives a big fuck you to the global warming guys.

Another problem was that recently they announced (you probably remember) the "warmest year ever recorded." That was big news. Do you wonder why you never hear about that anymore? That's because it turned out to be yet another massive screwup. Turns out, the Russians had a bunch of monitoring stations in Siberia that cost a lot of money to keep running, so they decided to just turn them off. No more data from those stations. But the nice global warming guys at the United Nations climate research center failed to adjust their computer models to account for the missing stations. So the models showed a huge increase in temperatures because they didn't have all that nice cold Siberian weather that had always been in the figures before, and it looked like a sudden sharp warming trend. Now, normally when scientists see something odd like that, the first thing they do is take a hard look at their data to see if anything goofy happened that would explain the anomaly. These guys didn't do that. Instead they rushed to the media, all excited that their long-awaited global warming proof had arrived -- and then they had to eat serious crow when other scientists looked at their numbers and found the blunder.

When scientists skeptical of global warming realized that the predicted warming was not happening, they went back to look at the models used in the predictions. They discovered a number of interesting things. For one, they discovered that some of the assumptions used in the calculations for the models turned out to be wrong. For instance, the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere doesn't have a constant effect. That is, if I exhale 2 molecules of CO2 they don't have twice as much effect the 1 I exhaled a minute ago. The exact opposite turns out to be true. In the actual atmosphere, every molecule of CO2 has half the effect on the climate as the one before. Also, the models totally failed to take plant life into account in sucking up CO2. We all know plants use CO2 in making food. The models assumed that more CO2 would just stay in the atmosphere, but what actually happens is, more CO2 means more plants. Like anything else that's alive, if you feed it more, it reproduces faster. Another problem was that the Earth actually radiates a lot more heat into space than scientists realized over a decade ago when the predictions were made. There are more problems, but you get the idea.

It comes down to this. Where's the warming? Global warming was supposed to have made the Earth measurably warmer by now, but instead the Earth is slightly cooler. No warming. So how does that mean they were right? Shouldn't we look more carefully at this stuff before passing all sorts of destructive legislation and spending trillions of dollars (which btw promised to lower the temperature by a less-than-impressive .33 degrees -- that's one-third of one degree, which seems like a shitty buy for trillions of dollars).

Im going to keep this simple before we get into it.

Never in the history of man have we dumped SO much pollution into the air, your avg major city produces several tons of pollution that gets tossed into the air every year. There's a HOLE in the ozone layer and there's now smog and air warnings us older guys never dealt with as children. I still remember when you could play out side all day as a kid and NOT need sun screen.

But YOU think THERE IS ZERO WRONG with the environment.

Get your head out of the websites and actually go outside before you start this debate. Its common sense there is something wrong!

Im very left when it comes to the social aspects of what liberals believe, but im very right in what i believe in regards to commerce, crime and defence.

Seeing both sides, i think both see what they want to see.

We never hear about "saving the rainforest" either. no money to be made by liberals in that i guess.

we are throwing more into the atmosphere than ever before, but the earth also can filter the CO2. the ocean filters it and traps it at the bottom of the ocean. thats how the earth naturally scrubs clean from huge volcanic eruptions in the past.

earth system science was one of the best courses i ever took. fascinating stuff. at the end, you realize that the earth has systems in place to fix itself.

the difference between say Daily Kos or Huffington post and Newsmax is that a Huffington Post Or Daily Kos Writer NEVER PUBLISHED AN ARTICLE THAT CALLED FOR A MILITARY COUP BECAUSE OF THE "OBAMA PROBLEM"......not only is that the most UnAmerican thing ive ever heard of but sounds like they have some really pathetic sore losers on the payroll

We're putting tons of CO2 into the environment, yes. However, it's very important to keep perspective here or we run into the problem of scale. For instance, all the CO2 humans pump into the atmosphere in a whole year is equal to one major volcanic eruption (maybe two), and those things happen every year. Again, the CO2 increases, you get more stuff that eats CO2. More food equals more hungry stuff.

It so happens that I don't believe there's ZERO wrong with the environment. There are a lot of things we do that we can do better. For instance, we can (and did) stop building nuclear power plants that explode. We know how to build them so they can't explode. We should do that.

We don't handle our sewage particularly well, although some communities do better than others. Turns out it's actually not very hard to deal with sewage very effectively at relatively reasonable cost. Sites that employ biological agents to neutralize sewage and break down solids work surprisingly well, and from there it's just dirty water. We can even turn the screened-out semisolid matter into decent fertilizer.

We have gotten MUCH better at generating electricity using cleaner technologies, but here's where the environmental goon squad is screwing everything up. They're just never happy. They wanted clean-coal technology, we built it -- they now protest it because it's not 100% pollution-free. News flash: nothing is ever 100% pollution-free and never will be. They wanted hydro-electric plants, we built them. Now they whine about fish and demand we install zillion-dollar fish ladders and other nuisances. Hell, here in Massachusetts Liberals lobbied hard for big wind farms because that's the cleanest energy ever, but when we try to build the damned things, environmental groups file lawsuits. Care to guess why? First they claimed the windmills would block the scenic view (windfarms must be where the wind blows, and around here that's the ocean) and then they claimed (seriously) that the windmill blades are killing birds. Does that give you a clue as to how crazy they've gotten?

There's a lot of room for improvement but this whole global warming thing is a hoax, as a story that broke today proves. The global warming crowd got caught faking data yet AGAIN, and now they've been caught trying to cover it up as well. Newly-released emails show that some global warming scientists who had been caught cherry-picking climate data to falsely show a warming trend (the fabled "hockey-stick") tried for a long time to stall Freedom Of Information Act requests for ALL the data from the cherry-picked numbers came -- and when they couldn't stall anymore they tried to convince the people holding the data to destroy it so nobody could prove they faked the research.

Tell me something. If global warming is legit, why would they need to lie? For that matter, once again, where's the warming? You didn't get around to answering that one.

As for common sense, I agree the theory APPEARS to make sense at first glance, but like most things once you did a little deeper you discover that the devil is in the details.

Do you agree that we should spend trillions of dollars to reduce global warming by a whopping one-third of a degree over the next 20 years? Do you really want to give up your truck, your air conditioning, your microwave over and flat-screen TV -- not to mention heat and hot water -- to "save" the planet while the rest of the world does whatever the hell it pleases?

BTW, one of global warming's biggest cheerleaders is Barack Obama. He gave a speech last year scolding Americans for being prosperous. "We can't continue to drive big SUVs, set our thermostats at 80 and expect the rest of the world to be ok with that." Then he went into the White House, set the thermostat at 80 and when we pointed out the hypocrisy, he shrugged and went about his business. Do you not see how you're being played?

McCains Nuke plan was one of the best things he had under his belt. BEST! i didnt understand it until i understood the dependency on oil. Do you know that theres a 90%+ chance that the power that is powering your comp right now is from oil?

It is nearly impossible to repower america with clean coal, solar, wind, water and alternative "clean:" energy make up in total less then 5% of the american and north american power out put.
