Ethanol business took a small hit, so profit sharing went to shit. However, since my work hours are 5am-2pm I am allowed extra time for side jobs. I'm a licensed electricia so i have many service calls. I am also a licensed HVAC (heating ventilation and air conditioning) guy. So these past two weeks have been PACKED with working on ac's since the temps have topped 90. I actually made more money doing ac work this month than i have my laboratory job lol.
But the recession has worked out well for me. Property prices have dropped like crazy in rural iowa so i was able to buy the house on a 4 acre lot that is pretty close to my acerage. I'm considering letting a mexican or black live in it to be my slave, I mean hired helper. Applications are now being accepted, feel free to pm me.

Yeah my work has actually picked up in this recession because I offer an alternative to what the big boys offer for service calls. Undercut the big guys.

just watched some Tom Green since Jar brought it up, OMG that undercutter's skit is classic. Im gonna look for some more good sketches.

I have not been bothered by the recession in the slightest in fact its been great for me as a lot of consumer goods have dropped in price and I am reaping the benefits. I bought a brand new 42 inch plasma tv for 599 because of the circuit city crash. I bought new chrome rims and a nintendo wii for real cheap. I have been scaning kijiji regularly and have been buying up things then reselling em fora quick buck.
I work in a government job and it is unionized. Our union just ratified a new contract for the next 4 years which includes a 3% raise every year for the next four years. So in the next 4 years my wage increases 12%.
all in all the crisis has really done nothing to me.

Pretty cool, man. I'm trying to get on with the state out here (should have that finalized pretty soon, I think), but it's so bad that the state is actually "furloughing" employees 2 days a month w/o pay. F'ing california.
It hasn't hit me too bad, personally, though. Thankfully there aren't a gang of people that do what I do.

lol just thought i would add to an interesting thread. It is good to see the positive in a bad situation. If everybody in here was a gloomy gus this thread would be no fun at all.
on a side note anybody else really hungry like I am? I might go to mcdonalds for some buffalo crispy chicken snack wraps. I love those damn things.
