trip when i come to update i see a bump for update post, kool, anyhoo

UPDATE
well i did alter my meal plan using eternals as a guide.
im eating almost perfectly , and i feel really good, ive cut out refined sugar in just about EVERY way, almost vegetarian, and drink nothing but water and so far so good ive lost 11 pounds of fat and have noticed a reduction in waist size, (pants that were tight, aint tight no more) here is what ive been doing

meals
#1 fruit with a little shake (8oz soy milk, 1 banana, 2 egg whites)
#2 fruit
#3 raw veg w/cup of nonfat cottage cheese
#4 usually more fruit but to mix it up i may sub. a salad sometimes with tuna
#5 chicken or fish with steemed veg
#6 desert usally fruit but sometimes sub nonfat yogurt with berries and splenda as suggested by someone here in a favorite fruit thread

and sometimes i have cheated and ate a 7th meal consisting of fruit, or ill chomp on zuchini or cucumber or anything to take my mind off of really cheating

im up to a solid 45 minutes of cardio every day, sometimes longer if i take a flat route.
i am lucky enough to live on a block that has 3 different elevation levels, so i enjoy the added benefit of walking up hill 3 different inclinations.

also implemented some calastenics and ab work to the routine

also lucky enough to have my kids support, they have joined me on my walks and exercise program and have started being concious of what they eat.

overall i am happy with this lifestyle and only hope to continue to get better. win/win situation.

That's awesome, jblade!

The mods you made to the meal plan are actually pretty good, I only have 3 problems with it.

1) You need cereal. Try organic granola. Always eat it with milk too. Milk gives you a ton of calcium, vit a, vit d and protein.

2) You NEED that chocolate bar I was talking about. I know this is going to sound crazy when you're trying to lose weight, but you need some fat/sugar. If you totally cut yourself off of it, your body will store what little fat you do get, and that weight will be harder than you'd ever imagine to drop.

3) Like jarwillie suggested, drink green tea. Even of you do nothing at all but drink green tea, you'll still lose 9lbs over the period of a year. It'll also add a ton of antioxidants to your system and help speed up your metabolism.

I also wouldn't bother with any ab work for a long time. It will do almost nothing for you at this point. I'd use that extra time to swing away at a punching bag, or even boxing on a Wii will help.

All in all though, you're doing pretty well. Just make sure you do take in some (not much) fat/sugar, and you'll do just fine. Keep it up!

hey thats one thing i did get away from was my oatmeal, it really got played out and have lost my imagination with trying to make it different every day. i have a hard time with granola because of my molar situation, im missing one on both sides and when i get a big chunk in there it hurts pretty bad.

as far as the chocolate goes i dont think ill have a problem working it in there, it just feels like im cheating, id rather eat a chicken skin!

do you think that should suffice my fat intake requirement? and isnt all the fruit i eat enough sugar? sometime i think i eat too much fruit.

also what about carb intake i allow myself to eat carbs 4 days week. (i know fruit is carbs) but what i am staying away from is complex carbs, i used to eat alot of rice (im half asian) so its an everyday thing but like i said i have cut down to 4 days per week on that. as well as potatoes, bread and pasta have been cut.

what about this green tea thing? can i get it like normal tea bags? i do like ice tea and if this is a good option than id love to work it in.

another thing i thank all who have had input in this and really appreciate the support!

bumping for update

well the walk thing was gettin played out my shins and ankles were hurting so bad that they hurt before i walked so i decided to join a health club so i could hit the treadmill and has been alot better. its alot easier on my joints plus i can see what im doing as far as miles etc. im walkin 2.7/3 miles a day depending on what i have the treadmills speed set to.

im still eatin right havent cheated, eternal i will have you know that i am getting my grains now and my intestines are thanking you for it (i know that dont sound good) but it is. after seeing what it takes to burn 300 calories im even more motivated to stay on course with my dietary needs

im down to 361 lbs. and an hour and 5 minutes (5 minute cool down) of cardio six days a week

quick question, what should i try to maintane my heartrate at when doing cardio?

thanks for your time, peace

Sorry for the late reply, jblade. I don't come around here too often anymore. There's just too much BS in a section that should be a lot more serious.

To determine your heart rate, you first have to establish to MHR (maximun heart rate). Here's a good read on how to do that.

Heart Rate Basics

Then for beginners, you want yours to be in and around the 60% mark of your MHR.

As for the chocolate, there's MANY other reasons other than what I listed as to why you'd need it if you want to drop weight. I just for some reason decided to focus on that one aspect. There's just too many to name in detail to post them all in this thread. Just Google: "Benefits of chocolate", and you'll find all the anwsers.

Going to health clubs is OK if you're only going there to use their equipment. DO NOT take their advice under any circumstance for anything.

Do not bother with P90X. Doing anything active will help you out, but you're much better off doing things the way you are. They say the best way to establish long term weight loss is to take baby steps. Rushing into something like that at this point is just setting you up for failure. It may take you a little longer this way, but the result will last 50x as long. I can pretty much promise you won't rebound either.

Yes! You NEED green tea. If you get it, do not get that bullshit mix stuff (the kind you make like kool aid). Get a brand called Stash. You just brew it like regular tea bags. Make sure you get decaf too.

That's good to see that you're still going strong man. Most people in your situation give up after a week or two.

Congrats, man! Keep it up.

yeah i joined the health club solely for the purpose of using the treadmill and found a few other machines i like to keep things fresh. and from what the charge for private trainers, i wouldnt and couldnt afford it anyway.

thanks for the link on the heart rate thing, i kinda had an idea but this helps me know im on the right track.

ive been doing the green tea everday, i go thru about a gallon every 2 days sweetened up with some splenda (yeah its the real deal)

ive been gettin my chocolate, i bought a bag of hershey kisses and i eat one every day. (not one bag, one kiss!)

hey i have another question should i take vitamins? i got a box of multi vitamin paks laying around and wasnt sure if it would be beneficial, i think im getting all my nutritional needs met without them anyway.

thanks mediumpimpin for the words of support.

until next time, peace!
