Police: Man Uses Fake Money To Buy Fake Drugs - CBS News

A man was been arrested after police said he used counterfeit money to purchase fake OxyContin pills from an undercover officer. Unicoi County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 21-year-old man on Tuesday and charged him with criminal conspiracy with schedule II drugs, forgery and criminal simulation.

Investigator Frank Rogers said the officer met with several people at a mobile home park and arranged for the suspect and another man to come to Unicoi to buy 76 OxyContin pills for $4,875.

Officers said it was "obviously bad money" with some bills printed on just one side.

Authorities also tracked down the device believed used to make the counterfeit money.

The Johnson City Press reported officers expect to make more arrests in the case.

thats almost 70 bucks a fucking pill thats fucking insane i use to know a guy that would buy 80 mg oxy's for 10 bucks each then sells them for 30 then that dude turns around and sells them for 40

but he got arressted hahaha

wtf, its illegal to buy drugs? I thought that was entrapment. How can cops arrest you for selling you drugs?

If you initiate the connect with the undercover, it qualifies as an attempted conspiricy to commit an illegal action. Not too sure about this case, though - the way the article is worded, the officer initiated the contact, which is a very grey area.

The cop probably put out the word that he might be able to get the pills, and had the suspect come to him and ask specifically if the cop could arrange a purchase, in which case I don't believe it qualifies as entrapment.

This would be my defense in this case...."I was buying the drugs to get them off the street. I was going to drive straight to the police station and turn them in, and give the description of the dealer, as soon as the deal was over"
