Could Rickson Gracie choke out a blue belt wearing a regulation life preserver?

For those of you who are not familiar with Rickson Gracie he is probably the greatest fighter of all time and he is undefeated in every combat sport except for losing to other Gracies.

And for those of you who don’t know what a regulation life preserver is like they are made of hard foam and they wrap around your neck and chest with foam behind the head and neck and other foam pressing against the body.

Now I know Rickson could get whatever position he wanted. Don’t get me wrong. I know that. But how could he finish a guy by rear naked choke with all of that foam? Sure he could punch to the face, but his favorite technique was a choke and he might not be able to use that.

There are other chokes than a RNC, fully - I have every confidence in Rickson to do this.

Not that I doubted you, but I used a combination of google and youtube to confirm that what you are saying is 100% correct. But I would add that an ezekiel choke would also be difficult, if not impossible, if your opponent were wearing a life preserver.

Just looked at life preservers online - a zeke would be a bitch to do with that on. But rickson would still choke his ass out.

By the time you were a blue belt you would know something like a thousand escapes from that choke.

More relevantly, I legitimately had on a regulation life preserver within the last two weeks. Fortunately it was only for training purposes and not a real emergency. While I had it on, I thought of the Rickson scenario but I couldn't post it until now.

I felt it was more realistic and less biased if I used a blue belt instead of myself, though.

The more I think about it*, the more I think that a guillotine choke would be impossible as well. Now, I'm not saying this because of Rickson's lack of skill or ability to squeeze but only because I can't imagine that his arms would be long enough to reach around the preserver and still get to the wind pipe.

*which I have been doing a lot of the last couple of days
