I am reminded of an episode of CSI where a boxer injects mercury in his gloves and kills his opponent. They did measurements and adding several extra ounces of weight (I cant remember how much they added but I remember it was only a couple ounces) increased the psi of the punches from 500 psi to over 1000.
When I saw it my first thought was the difference between boxing and MMA gloves would be similar... them I remembered the difference in surface area would likely cancel out most of the difference.

been hit by both regulary...
UFC 4 oz gloves hurt more. its enough padding to keep the hands from breaking, much like bag gloves.
