It always takes a handsome man to be able to admit to see another handsome man.
I wasn't thinking Clay Guida. But I bet if John puts on a viking helmet and wielded an axe. He would be one of the most intimidating vikings to date.

John, how long have you been a Christian, and what type of church do you attend?
Also, check out the Purple Door Festival it's in Lewisberry PA. It's a Christian festival with good music and other activities. I live here in Ohio, and just never had the chance to go. The dates are August 15th-16th.
Kind of like the Alive festival here in Ohio, but I guess it supposed to be bigger.
Do you listen to much christian music? There is a good christian ****l scene if you are into that heavy of music.

Well Sheikh, I really don't cut that much. My last two fights I fought around the 260 mark. I was in great shape for both of them, but it's still a bit heavy for me in the aspect that I'm not as quick or explosive as say 245.
That being said, the diet that I follow is called the Warrior Diet. It was developed by a guy named Ori Hofmekler. It's based on an Undereating phase, during which throughout the day you eat/drink raw fruits and vegetables and their juices, and an Overeating phase in the evening where you body has been prepped, through the controlled fasting of the day, to consume/digest properly large amounts of food.
Now that's just the basics. I (as should any athlete) do a modified version in which I consume small protein/carb meals throughout the day and hi-protein/hi-carb (low glycemic such as oats barley, etc.) recovery meals post-workouts.
The diet itself is quite simple, and let me re-iterate, it's really not a diet, it's a lifestyle. There is so much to get into, but if you're really interested, check out Ori's site here - Warrior Diet.
Ori's also a huge advocate of intense physical training/strength and conditioning. He's an associate and friend of Pavel Tsouline from Dragon Door who's probably the most world renowned kettlebell instructor.

it's interesting though--a lot of very spiritual people feel a burning fire inside and a motivation that is much bigger than themselves. i think there has to be a strong warrior mentality in the spiritual path, don't you? hmmm.....maybe we can continue this conversation in the spirituality thread
oh man, i checked out some pictures of your pooch! that has GOT to be one of the most adorable pups i've ever seen--the one where he's sleeping with his tongue out is soooo cute!!

What's up KOB? I'll answer your question here since it's the basis of my faith/belief. The burning fire/motivation that you speak of is my sole reason for life. I've been seeking something my entire life and fighting is just part of the path that I am on. I know God has a greater purpose for me. I've known this through the worst of times and the best. I've always felt Him there, leading me, even when I chose to turn a blind eye to Him.
That fire guides me not only through my career, but through everyday life. Since turning it all over, I wake up every morning now, not dreading/loathing my days as I had when I was caught up in booze and drugs, but alive, awake, and excited to take on the day and all that it brings. I'm unafraid to live as I know that, even in death, He's got me.
