Nice to hear it put the way he did in the blog. When he was on Inside MMA he basically said the same thing but he toned down a bit. So I imagine he wouldn't offend the UFC?
This is the reason why people need to buy DVR's or Tivo's if they don't have it. There is no reason NOT to watch this Affliction card. Not unless of course you really can't afford it.

he said some insightful things but why does there 'need to be more than one'? is there more than one professional mens golf tour? is there more than one professional mens tennis tour? it's an individual sport. there's no need for 5 fucking sanctioning bodies in boxing but there are, and is anybody gonna tell you that THAT isn't extraneous? can you tell me the difference between the WBC, the IBF, and now the RING MAGAZINE CHAMPIONSHIP BELT? just because you 'wanna' be considered a contemporary of the best in this sport doesn't mean you deserve to be, nor do you deserve to be paid anything like the best. federer is rich and the guy who played 3 ranked matches and is now the 'club pro' at the YMCA is not rich because he's a grain of sand to federer's diamond. apply the same thing to golf. apply the same thing to arena football. the highest paid arena football player makes about 1/10th of the NFL league minimum. you know why? CUS IF HE WAS GOOD ENOUGH TO PLAY NFL BALL - HE WOULD BE PLAYING IT and doing so at a substantially elevated rate of pay.
if the UFC hadn't turned a dead sport into a world force, gary shaw wouldn't even know what it is and donald trump wouldn't give a cumshot about even attending the sales pitch. the ONLY reason these guys are in it is for money and i guarantee you that not only do all of you critics give 300% more of a shit about how much money a fighter makes than gary shaw or donald trump (despite not getting so much as a sniff), but I'd bet my life savings that donald trump can't name 10 mixed-martial artists. YOU tell ME why I should want THAT GUY to make a buck off the backs of these guys you wanna fuck

Big John is all wrong
Boxing has too many organizations, too many belts, too much corruption and too much confusion. I am surprised Big John doesn’t like the idea of one major league and then many lesser leagues underneath it. Fedor has consistently avoided the UFC for one reason or another. It has already cost him millions in endorsements and millions more in the future as his name still is unknown to all but the hard core fans.
Affliction trying to go ‘Bigtime’ with its first event has all put put a target on their back. MMA is survival of the fittest… and so should the organizations that promote it.
If Affliction had tried to be less ‘in your face” then Dana would have probably sat back and let them nibble at his market share. But having the audacity to call this the greatest card in MMA history with Fedor, Barnett and a bunch of UFC castoffs is clearly sending a ‘yo mama’ to Dana and Zuffa.
I love the UFC but mostly the idea of one true ladder to climb to get to be the legitimate World Champ. Affliction and “The Donald” better be prepared to lose 30 million or more in the next few years because they are gonna take it on the chin every time and with every card, and I am damn happy about that. There’s no disgrace in being a minor league, but when you wanna go head to head and have the testicles to call out the big boy, be prepared for a war.
What’s good for MMA is to stay clear of the BS that is rampant in boxing. All the sanctioning bodies, all the organizations, and belts and bogus promoters and bad management, etc, etc. The UFC is breaking ground in so many states, so many countries and others just want to ride their coat tails.
There are hundreds of tennis players in the ATP but the best always end up playing against the best. No debates… Let the UFC be the ATP and the fighters in other events earn points to climb up ladders and eventually get into the UFC. Why does anyone want multiple bogus “Champion of the World” belts? Who in their right mind would have this as a goal? Well, that’s really what all these ‘Affliction is good’ campaigners are really saying. Right now MMA has one set of legit belts under the UFC. Let’s keep it that way. Big John, I respect your ideas but please come up with a way that ‘World Champ’ will always be just that… World Champ… where the best HAS to fight the best in order for that label, officially or unofficially.
Then Fedor and Barnett and a rare few of those other non-UFC true talents can get their (butts) into the Octagon and prove what the bloggers can only rage debates about their pound for pound merits.
Cheers mates!

if affliction does become huge, it's just going to confuse people that aren't close with the sport
