Jake Shields May Be Headed To The UFC.
GracieFighter.com:
“We are confirming that EliteXC has folded. What this means for our fans and supporters is that there will not be a Nick Diaz vs. Eddie Alvarez fight on November 8th. However Jake Shields in the UFC has now become a real possibility. We will be updating our site for future developments.”

While I agree he looked lackluster against Daley, and GSP would destroy him, he has several wins over more credible opponents than half the people on your list.

If everyone is compared to GSP or BJ, then they have almost no one with talent.

As the sport progresses, and from what we have already seen, more and more high quality young athletes will come into MMA and there will be more BJ's, GSP's, and Silva's. We are rapidly moving in that direction.

well you're partially saying that because the half-the-wins-are-against-inferior-competition came in an organization where the wins came over guys who were inferior to GSP. it's relative. the 10th best guy in the UFC WW division is going to be better than the #2 guy in EliteXC, and if paul daley is the fucking barometer, then i don't think he'd be the 20th best guy in the division. look near the bottom of the list at a guy like chris lytle. how is he going to beat chris lytle? the standup discrepancy is silly, the ground advantage is not that great because lytle is too game to be submitted. all of the guys i listed are better than paul daley and jake shields can beat a certain TYPE of guy a lot of times but you basically don't make it to the UFC if you're not better than paul daley. name me 2 of those guys jake shields would beat and i'll tell you why he wouldn't. it's a skill-set-game, and nobody with standup as bad as jake shields can thrive in the UFC. nobody worth a shit has takedown defense that bad, and if it IS that bad then their BJJ isn't paul-daley-bad

Jake Shields jump-started his career with a win over Yushin Okami.
However at that time I hear, Okami was just a wrestler, who still needed to work on his overall grappling.

People look lackluster in fights all the time, sometimes it happens. That happens all the time to everybody. BJ Penn looked lackluster against Matt Serra. And yea, elite xc's #2 is worse than the UFC's number ten, but organizations outside the UFC don't really even have divisions, they sign the best possible free agents they can find. Shields has wins over Okami, Condit, Thompson, and Mach, more than most than the guys on your list can account for.
Yea, I don't think Shields can ever make it to be the WW champ in the UFC, but he certainly belongs competing with the other top comp there. I personally don't even care much about him but your extreme bias against him is obvious.

i don't really have anything against him it's more against the people who are making him out to be a really top-ranked guy. sure, give him a chance in the UFC, it can certainly be said that he deserves at least 2 fights. i just think he's going to fail in both and be let go, that's all.

he would lose to a good amount of the UFC WW's, he is very overrated, but he is not a terrible fighter
