Default Big John McCarthy to make 2009 return to the UFC???

mmabay

Considered the best in the business for year's, former referee "Big" John McCarthy is set to make a sensational return to officiating after quitting is role at Fight Network.

Speaking in his final blog, McCarthy slams his previous employers, saying:

“A few people have said that I have attacked the UFC. That is simply not true. I have never said anything bad about the UFC. I spent 14 years of my life trying to build up the UFC and make people understand how incredible the fighters of MMA were. I considered myself very lucky in the fact that I was able to be around the UFC for as long as I was, and you never know maybe I will go back to refereeing and someday work another UFC.”

After working for UFC rivals, Affliction, at their first event, it is unclear how happy UFC President, Dana White would be with a return to the octagon for McCarthy. That said, it is not the UFC that chooses its official’s as we all know, is down to the athletic commissions.

By Michael Pepper.

MMAWEEKLY, is claiming something similair, interesting

he definitely made fun of the ufc, and I will go look up some quotes. It's funny, everyone who leaves the ufc uses their fame to make a statement and then end up crawling back for work when they realize they ufc is the only MMA related employer that can consistently hold events. Now that he's jobless he wants to make it clear he has no beef with the ufc. Wasn't he the spokesperson who went behind a ufcs back and change the rules of the elbow strikes, weight classes, among other things.

I would like to see him refereeing again in the octagon but didn't he quit because the athletic commission would not give him a raise. So he is probably on bad terms with the ufc and the athletic commission. Good luck with that John

i always thought BJM came off like a good guy, a great ref, but it's not good to burn bridges like he may have very well done, but at the same time, i thought Randy did with Dana did too, but he's back now

yes he is absolutely, but he knows the sport better than any other promoter out there, and he's kept the sport going from a time when it was dead
