GSP the Janitor
Lets say GSP gets the W against Alves and retains his status as WW Champ.
What is next for him? The winner of Swick vs. Kampmann -- sure they are both dangerous strikers but neither of them having anything on Alves.
He already beat up Fitch, Hughes and/or Serra don't matter anymore, Koschek isn't deserving these days, Carlos Condit? He just lost a close one to Martin so...Then there are guys like Paulo Thiago, Hazelett, Karo, Davis, Hardy, Larson, Lytle? I think all of these guys are more than a few wins away from a shot at the WW strap.
What happened to our super-deep WW department? GSP mopped the floors I guess.

The winner of Swick/Kampmann, yeah, that would be a decent challenge. Anthony Johnson is another dangerous striker, but he needs more big wins. I think Paulo Thiago can beat Fitch and if he does, he could get a shot. But after Alves, yeah, there aren't any more really big threats. Guys like Hardy, Davis, Larson, could work their way up eventually as well but I don't see them as having anything on GSP. Jake Shields would be a great fight.

A move to MW to fight A.Silva is the only thing plausible if he beats Alves.

Nick Diaz has one fight left in his contract (I think) that would be a good fight for The Janitor

I want to see the Anderson fight too, but GSP will still have to defend his WW belt.

Ironically GSP's next best fight just moved down to LW. Diego Sanchez.
I say bring in Shields or GSP can just eek it out to a respectable rein. I don't like champion fighters going up and down in weight. It sends a message out that everyone left in your division is a weakling, it puts TWO belts on hold for at least 6 months each, we learn NOTHING about anything relating to either division unless you want to play MMath.
If both champs were undefeated then there'd be SOMETHING to it. But both Anderson and GSP have their fair share of losses, neither guy is undefeatable.

WW Is still deep but GSP beat everyone.
GSP Sheilds to fight a ranked opponent if not on to 185!

Yea I agree its "deep" but like 185 there is a big gap between the champ and anyone competitive.
I guess we will see if Alves can change that.

I think with the bad blood between him and BJ, there will probably be another match at some point.

Third fights only work if the other guy wins atleast once.
If the fight with Alves is close, they'll just feed GSP a few of the other top ranking WW's until they set up a rematch. I don't see anyone else besides GSP beating Alves so...

I dunno, I think BJ would probably be too stubborn to say no, and I think he could use the ''he greased so last fight shouldn't coun't'' excuse.
I'm not saying the result would be different, but the greasing and BJ's whining has cast enough doubt that I think there would be interest from both parties, and the audience. The first did massive numbers.
I see your point, don't get me wrong, and in terms of how it would go, I think GSP would rape him again, but it's still a match I think holds audience interest, and both guys have a grudge there. If they put on tito and ken 3 times (none of which were anywhere near as close as the first bj-gsp match), I think they could probably do a trilogy for bj- gsp.

Anderson greased, so I guess Thales could use that excuse too?
I know BJ hypes shit up, and that kinda shit does sell tickets... but I doubt Dana would let a guy like BJ make an even bigger ass out of himself.
We'll have to see how the Alves fight goes before we start talkin' about this. If it is a close fight, that'll be the only logical fight unless GSP moves up to fight Anderson.
