Akiyama
I want to see this guy fight Anderson Silva. Maybe I'm overestimating him, but I think he's got what it takes.
I wonder about his training though. He looks powerful, but he said he doesn't have a gameplan. There's a video interview on ufc.com. Someone typed this up:
"I'm very confident in my judo skills and my judo throws," Akiyama told UFC.com. "In that sense, I think it will be a strong weapon against the top contenders in the UFC. Judo in the UFC isn't as successful so what I would like to do is to show everybody that Judo can be successful, even in the UFC. I'd like the fans to know that even though Judo is mostly throws, what I would like to bring into the octagon is the techniques following the throws. I don't put too much emphasis on the fact that I'm a Judoka but similar to Karo Parisyan most likely I will be using a lot of throws. I don't have any game plan against Alan Belcher. If I can throw the fighter, submit him. If I can hit him, then I'll hit him but my main focus is to increase my skills in all techniques I have. I realize that the American fighters are bigger and their techniques are good and honestly, I'm not sure how well my techniques will transfer here in the UFC. What I want the fans to see if my heart for the game and my spirit for the game. It's always been a dream of mine to be in the UFC but now that I'm here, the dream is a reality and I'm looking forward to one day having the championship belt around my waist."
Even if he doesn't beat Anderson, there are so many good fights for him in the UFC. Say he beats Belcher, he'd need at least two fights before a title shot and I'd like to see him fight someone recognizable but still a good fight for him. Like Kendall Grove, or maybe the ufc would make him rematch with Denis Kang cause the first one ended by KO.

Seriously? The guy has explosive striking, KO power, takedowns and submissions. It would be an awesome fight.

you guys are just racist against koreans. believe it or not, Asians do have what it takes to win in the ufc. in fact, anderson in particular has a weakness for them. akiyama is the man to beat him, Ive got him by armbar.

LOL, why does saying Akiyama has no chance against Anderson make us racist against koreans? And psst, he was born in Japan. He is "Korean Japanese" -- so we are also racist against the Japanese.

Pfft, sure man, next you're gonna tell me Mas Oyama was Korean too.
Face it. Akiyama is gonna sub Anderson so viciously that Silva is already having elbow problems.

Akiyama is a Japanese name, sir - his Korean name is Chu Seong-hun as he is of Korean descent (I wanna say it was his great grandfather that emigrated from Korea, but don't quote me on that).
