kos just had a dumb fuckin gameplan. he was the #3 WW before that gay fight where he didn't respect his opponent at all, and if those two were to fight another 9 times, kos would take 8 of them. don't make it sound like if you get dominated and bludgeoned by kos you MUST be TERRIBLE

as much as i hate Kos you're right(although i have him at number 4 at WW), he clearly is just retarded, extremely, totally retarded, and doesn't understand the concept of a gameplan

after his loss it's fair to put him at #4. i would probably do the same just to be FAIR. whether or not he would beat fitch is anybody's guess. kos got embarrassed by a pussy punch in his last fight and fitch massacred gono like he was born to do it.

Jason MacDonald was cut: Jason MacDonald confirms he's been cut from UFC's roster of fighters | MMAjunkie.com

Too bad, I mean he's 1-4 in his last 5 but he's pretty exciting to watch. At least he's not taking it hard at all.

Kos was at number 4 when he fought Paulo Thiago, Fitch and Alves were both above him

I hope Paulo beats Jon Fitch badly. Being a Brazilian special forces guy, I find that a lot more interesting than a vanilla American wrestler, plus it would shoot him up to title contention against GSP (knock on wood).

From Sportsnet:

Canadian Jason (The Athlete) MacDonald's loss to Nate Quarry at UFC 97 in Montreal was crushing in more ways than one. The mixed martial arts fighter from Red Deer, Alta., was released by the UFC over the weekend.

MacDonald told Sportsnet he got the news he'd been cut in the form of an email letter. His fight at the Bell Centre on April 18 was his second on a four-fight deal he signed in September. UFC contracts are not guaranteed.

He fought 10 times in the organization's middleweight division, going 5-5. But he fell in his past two by first-round TKO, including the one-sided defeat to Quarry, who earned a first-round TKO when a barrage of elbows on the ground left MacDonald's forehead completely bloodied.

Following the loss, UFC president Dana White said the organization loves having guys like MacDonald (21-10), because he "puts on exciting fights" and is "always awesome." But apparently that wasn't enough, as the UFC has been trimming its roster heavily of late.

Prior to his most recent defeat, the 33-year-old dropped another quick one by TKO to Wilson Gouveia in December. MacDonald, who gained notoriety fighting for the Edmonton-based MFC, began his career in the Octagon with two straight wins over Ed Herman and Chris Leben in late 2006 before falling in a bout against Rich Franklin that would have earned him a title shot.

2-4 in your last 6 with 2 first Round KO's doesn't help the cause

I got my walking papers from the UFC.

I received an e-mail Saturday from the UFC, from their legal department, saying "my services were no longer needed" and "my contract has been terminated."

It was one of those form letters and at the bottom it said "this is in large part due to your loss in the UFC."

I’m obviously very disappointed. But I’m not at all angry with the UFC. I’m well aware of the fact that I’m paid to perform. And the reality is three of the past four fights, I’ve lost.

I spoke with UFC match-maker Joe Silva and we are still on good terms. He said to go out there and put together some wins and they’d like me to be back. I’ve always had a positive relationship with the UFC, and even Joe said I was always a pleasure to deal with.

But this is a business decision.

The UFC has been great to me and they’ve been great to deal with, so there are no hard feelings at all. I understand it’s just the nature of the sport. Especially nowadays, with so many fighters, it’s more important than ever to win fights.

Even two years ago, there wasn’t as much emphasis on winning. It was more about putting on a good fight for the fans. But now with WEC and Pride being taken over, you have to win.

I do my best to put on good fights but I put on a horrible performance against Quarry. Had I gone out there and had a three-round war with him and had it been extremely exciting, I don’t think I’d be in this position.

The only thing is it’s disappointing that some of the fighters who have a pretty good fan base, such as myself, don’t have the opportunity to work through the losses.

But probably the most disappointing thing is not only that I was let go, but how poorly I performed that night, in Canada, in front of all my Canadian fans.

That makes it more bitter for me.

But I will always be an optimist. The good news is I can go out there and win a few fights and hopefully be back in the UFC before the end of 2009.

It also opens up some other opportunities for me. It’s an opportunity for me to fight in the MFC and win that middleweight belt. It’s where I started in fighting so it would be awesome to go out there and conquer that championship.

And with MFC being on HDNet, it’s an opportunity to fight on TV and do it front of all my Alberta fans.

I know Patrick Cote holds the MFC’s middleweight belt but he hasn’t been able to defend it for a couple of years since joining UFC. I don’t know if Mark Pavelich may consider stripping his belt if there’s a legitimate contender to fight for it.

Another thing that interests me is Jake Shields is moving up to 180 pounds, and I’d love to fight him at that weight. His style is similar to Demian Maia’s and I think we could put on a good fight. I’ve weighed in twice in the UFC at 183 pounds, so I could certainly make 180 if I had to.

I also wouldn’t mind fighting in Strikeforce. They’re looking for someone to fight Scott Smith. And I can beat Scott Smith.

I’d also like to fight in Japan. I don’t know if I’d want to make a career there, but I’d like the opportunity to do that. There are lots of opportunities out there to move forward and do good stuff.

But honestly I haven’t really had a lot of time to stomach this news, and really figure out what it is I want to do.

I know that right now I’m tired from training camps for the Quarry fight. I had a pretty lengthy suspension from the cuts from the fight. So I will take it slow and allow my body to recuperate and look to get back in the ring in September.

Also, it’s always been a goal of mine to get my black belt, so this gives me some time to do this. I can work with my trainer Josh Russell with a Gi on and hopefully get my black belt.

All in all, it’s been a pretty miserable couple of weeks for me. Yet I’ve had lots of ups and downs, and how you bounce back from your downs makes you who you are.

There’s no doubt in my mind I can get myself back into the UFC. So I’ll just go out there and put on some exciting fights, get some wins and get myself back into the UFC.
