I don't drink, or even stay in rooms with people smoking, i train MMA from 7:30 to 9:30 5 days a week and go to the gym 6 days a week, at the gym i have a muscular edurance set up work out, and end it with 2 miles in twelve minutes on the tredmill and 2 miles in 20 minutes on the eliptical and usually go swimming after

A diet is not a fad to lose weight. A diet is your intake of everyday foods. So a diet could be Wendys cheeserburgers everyday. So changing your diet is changing the way you eat for the rest of your life or what have you.

Men:
66 + (6.3 x weight in pounds) + (12.9 x height in inches) - (6.8 x age in years)

Step two: In order to incorporate activity into your daily caloric needs, do the following calculation:

* If you are sedentary : BMR x 20 percent

* If you are lightly active: BMR x 30 percent

* If you are moderately active (You exercise most days a week.): BMR x 40 percent

* If you are very active (You exercise intensely on a daily basis or for prolonged periods.): BMR x 50 percent

* If you are extra active (You do hard labor or are in athletic training.): BMR x 60 percent

Add this number to your BMR.

This helps out a lot

Forgot to add that!

even if you just intake half of your body weight you will be fine. I don't think a lets say a 200lbs man needs to intake 200 grams of protien perday.

25-30% of your calorie intake should be protein. The nutrition facts say you only need 48 grams. But I am guessing all of us here workout so that is a little low.
even .36 grams per pound is efficient IMO

All depends if you are trying to lose fat or bulk up.

I was talking about when you're trying to lose fat. If you eat less than 1g of protein per LB of bodyweight you will also burn muscle when doing a lot of cardio. That was supposed to be linked in with what I had just posted before.

I guess I have never heard of muscle being burnt if you take less than 1 gram of protein. It has always been the margin I mentioned.

i think the amount of calories you're consuming and your insulin levels also has a lot to do with how much muscle versus fat you burn. that's why i prefer to increase my activity rather than my calories to lose weight.

it might have been mentioned already, but any weight loss beyond 2 pounds a week is muscle and water. it's physically impossible (without drugs) to lose more than 1 1/2 - 2 pounds of fat per week.
